What's Up Rubber Duck?

What have we been up to these past few days?
  • Well, Rudy is doing all sorts of fun things.  We woke up two days ago and he had learned how to scoot forward, meaning he's learned how to pull up and crawl (basically) in the same week.
  • We started watching 24 this week.  I like it, but am definitely not as into it as I was Grey's Anatomy.  (Thank goodness, because I watched it 24/7 for like 2 weeks and didn't get anything done!)  Also, Josh watched it a couple of times after I had already gone to bed so he is quite a bit ahead of me, so it's not quite as fun to watch it myself.
  • I went shopping yesterday to get some supplies for some crafts I've been wanting to make.  I made one last night and it turned out super-awesome.  Yes, I said super-awesome.  I'll tell you about it at a later time, but it's going to be given as a gift to my MIL and I don't want the surprise to leak!
I think that pretty much covers the last three days.  Tonight Josh, Rudy, and I are going out to eat with Becca and Tom.  I'm already starving.  Sweet.

Until next time....

All Boy

That's what Rudy is turning out to be.  Today I put him in his little bathtub (no water in it) on the floor of the kitchen while I took some cookies out of the oven.  Before I knew it he was standing in the bathtub and in an instant laying head first on the floor.  The bathtub had tipped over and Rudy took a face plant.  I was watching him the entire time, but it happened so fast!  He has a nice goose egg on his forehead from it, but was a really tough little boy and only cried for about a minute.  This picture doesn't really do it justice.  Poor guy.
Tonight we went out for pizza for Greg's dad's 70th birthday.  Josh was walking around with Rudy and they stopped by these windows.  Rudy grabbed on and was hanging on all by himself.  You can see in the picture that Josh isn't even holding on to him.  What a little monkey.
On another note... I am two weeks into my half marathon training.  I am definitely feeling like I am getting more and more in shape, but I'm a little bored with/sick of running already!  I've only been able to do two outside runs, so hopefully once the weather gets better I won't be so sick of it.  I'm definitely wishing I had an elliptical at home to do some cross training.  For some reason my ankle is acting up and I think that is part of the reason why I have been dreading the runs so much.  Bleh.

No Longer...

A Basketball Widow!
Woohoo.
As of 20 minutes ago, basketball season is officially over.
And we get our Daddy/Hub back.
Woohoo.
I think I already said that.

New Trick

Rudy pulled out a new trick last night.  Watch for yourself!
I was folding laundry on our bed, so I put him inside of the laundry basket so he wouldn't roll off the bed.  Before I knew it he was trying to stand up inside the basket and almost tipping it over.  So, I took him out of the basket and sat him next to it.  Before I knew it he was standing, then jumping, then falling.  He can only pull up from a sitting position, and he hasn't quite figured out how to get from his belly to sitting, so I think we have a little while before he is pulling up on everything.  Whew.

Crazy Eyes

Murphy got a "fire hose" bone LAST YEAR for Christmas.  They are supposedly indestructible.  They actually are the closest thing to indestructible that we've found.  Most of his toys are ripped to shreds within minutes of him first getting them.  Well, last week Murphy's fire hose finally bit the dust.
These are the remnants.
I couldn't find one at any of the pet stores around here.  (He got it as a gift from Pam.) So, I got online and ordered him one.  It came in the mail today.  Murphy is beside himself with joy.

Or possessed, who knows?
Rudy and I went on another walk today.  It was a bit colder, but we bundled up and had a good time.  Rudy decided to take a little snooze along the way.

And last, but certainly not least, one of my BFF's had her baby yesterday..two weeks early!  It must have been the full moon!  I'm so excited to welcome Lucy Joy into the Troops fam!
Isn't she a beauty?
So happy for you Rachel and Joe.  Can't wait to meet her!

First Walk of the Year

It's 60 here today!
So, we went on a walk.
Unfortunately, it was REALLY windy and overcast; so we didn't get to walk as long as we wanted to.
But, it felt good to get out of the house for awhile!
Rudy has been really fussy for about five days.  I hope he is teething and it's not just a personality change, because I don't know how much I can take!
He was surprisingly content on this walk, though!
Here's to hoping spring is on it's way!

A Picture and a Video

Original title.  I know.
One of our former youth took this picture at a basketball game a few weeks ago.
Rudy loves to splash in the tub.  Almost as much as he likes to eat the washcloth.
That's all I've got for you, folks.

Be Mine

I have three Valentines:  my Valentine man, my Valentine boy, and my Valentine murph.
I only have a picture of one.

Josh and I decided to go out to eat for lunch today, since we figured it would be crazy at dinner time.
We went to the Olive Garden and splurged.  We had a bunch of gift cards there so we both got drinks (we usually just get water), meals, and split a dessert! Whoa!  Unfortunately, our usual angelbaby wasn't so angelic today.  He fussed the entire time.  Figures.  Then we did a little bit of shopping, nothing too big.  But it was a fun day.

Other unrelated news:
Rudy tried puffs for the first time today.  He's not a fan.  I have a video that I'll have to upload and share.
I started my half marathon training this week.  I've been having a hard time running on my treadmill because it feels like it is much too fast.  I finally looked into it and figured out how to calibrate it.  So, that should make a huge difference.  I also got to go for a run outside yesterday.  It was so nice!  I used my new Nike+ that I got for Christmas and it was really cool.  It updates you at the touch of a button what your time, mileage, and pace are.  Unfortunately, I have to calibrate that too, because it was WAY off.  I ran my usual 4 mile route and it said that I had run 4.9 miles, so it made my pace look really fast!  I guess the factory settings are probably made for someone a little taller, with a little larger stride.  NBD.  I'm just happy to have something to train for so that I have some incentive to get back in shape.

Actually, I lied.  I have a picture of my Valentine murph too.

7 months

So, I realize this is about 10 days late, but better late than never!
Rudy is seven months old now and getting more and more fun by the minute.  He is starting to scoot (only about a foot and a half), and can roll just about anywhere he wants to go.  His favorite toys are straws and plastic spoons, and he loves to play with Murphy's red bone.  Usually when he grabs a new toy he holds it as far into the air as he can, looks at it, and starts talking to it, like it's a magic wand.  He is starting to push himself up onto his hands and knees.  Once he gets there he rocks back and forth but doesn't quite know what to do next.  He is constantly babbling and sometimes he says things like "oh boy" on accident.  He makes really loud squeals and sucks in air really loudly when he is really happy.  We call it his "dinosaur growl".  He still doesn't quite know what to do with baby food.  He refuses to open his mouth for it and immediately clamps down on the spoon if I do by chance slip it into his mouth.  His favorite pastime is playing on the floor with all of his toys, something that he couldn't stand until recently.  He is wearing 6-9 month and 6-12 month clothes and a size 3 diaper.  We aren't quite sure how much he weighs since he didn't have a doctor's appt this month.  His bowels have finally slowed down and we are having much fewer diaper changes (Whew, what a relief!)  He recently started rolling over at night and sleeping on his stomach, so we had to break him of his swaddle this month.  We still swaddle his bottom half, but he officially sleeps with his arms free.  His sleeping patterns have been very back and forth, sleeping through the night for a couple of nights, and then waking up every 3 hours for the next few.  He doesn't have any teeth yet, but we think that there may be some on the way.  Rudy is such a funny boy.  He is almost always smiling and laughing and he is absolutely the joy of my days.

I am the proud owner of a...

Big 7 month old.   Okay.  Maybe owner isn't the right word.  Proud Momma is better.  I am not going to write his 7 month post right now because we haven't taken his 7 month picture yet.

This weekend my dad came into town for Thursday night and stayed until Saturday afternoon.  We hung out with him and Becca and Tom quite a bit.  Friday night Josh's game was almost 2 hours away, so we opted out of going and stayed home.  Dad and I made a pot roast in the crock pot and then turned the left overs into vegetable beef soup.  Saturday morning Josh had a freshman game and we all went to watch.  It was a really tough loss.  The boys were up by almost 10 the entire game and then threw it away in the last half of the fourth quarter.  Then we all went for mexican food.  My favorite!

Rudy is getting closer and closer to creeping and crawling.  He can get just about anything he wants to, but has to put ALOT of effort in.  Becca is taking a video class for her PHD and has been taking pictures and videos like a wild woman, so you can thank her for these.

Many of you have expressed concern about my lack of blogging, haha.  I guess my blog is more of a blahg these days.  Don't worry.  Better days are to come.
